Today we introduce the privacy abstraction solution Aztec Network (@aztecnetwork).

Aztec Network is a privacy-first Layer 2 solution based on Ethereum, utilizing zero-knowledge proof technology to provide high privacy and low-cost transactions and decentralized applications for the Ethereum ecosystem. Its core goal is to bring programmable privacy to the Ethereum ecosystem, protecting user data and transaction details while maintaining the public verifiability of the blockchain.

In short, Aztec uses zero-knowledge proof technology to make transactions cheap and private, while also supporting developers to build privacy applications on Ethereum.

As early as 2021, Aztec Network secured $17 million led by Paradigm. In 2022, it further obtained $100 million in funding led by a16z, with additional investments from institutions such as Alliance DAO and IOSG Ventures. Combined with the previous $2.1 million seed round, the total funding reached $119 million.

On May 1st, Aztec Network officially opened its public testnet. Currently, there are mainly two interaction modes: running nodes and interacting with the testnet ecosystem. Due to the high configuration requirements for individual users when running nodes, this article focuses on introducing the Aztec testnet interaction, ecosystem wallet registration, and the experience process of ecosystem applications.

Aztec Testnet Interaction

Go to the Aztec Testnet website and create an abstract account. The creation and deployment will be relatively slow, but it will all succeed. After deploying everything, it will be saved to your browser.

Deploy vote, click on 【easy private voting】

Then click [DEPLOY/LOAD CONTRACT] and set the wallet account just now as the voting administrator.

Create a token, click on 【Simple Token】.

Then click [DEPLOY/LOAD CONTRACT], enter the token name, symbol, and set the decimals to 18.

*Each step takes some time, just wait patiently. You can click on the status bar on the right to check the current interaction progress.

The success will be displayed on the right after the task is completed.

Create Obsidion Wallet

Enter:

After creating an account by logging in with a Google account (optional), it will display a failure message but it has actually been successful.

Select the import account and log in with the account you just created.

Select 【Settings】 → 【Secret Key】 to export the private key.

After successfully registering with Obsidion Wallet, you can choose from two ways to receive water:

Directly claim water on the Obsidion Wallet account page, but the failure rate is high.

First, obtain USDC test tokens from the Circle official site, then perform cross-chain transactions through human.tech.

First go to: 【Select USDC】 →【Ethereum Sepolia Testnet】 → 【Enter EVM address (not the obsidian wallet registered earlier)】→ 【Claim USDC】

After obtaining the liquidity, enter the EVM wallet and the newly registered Obsidion wallet to perform cross-chain operations.

Summary

As a testnet project with strong financing capabilities, Aztec Network is currently under close scrutiny by a group of speculators. Not only is the testnet processing speed relatively slow, but there are also instances of lag in operations such as liquidity provision and cross-chain transactions. It is advisable to interact during off-peak hours.
