today while doing dumbbell chest press, I got as close to breaking my arm as I've ever been.

as I get back up, the first thought I have is why I ignore most of the academic backoffice quants that never touched a single unit of significant risk.

this accident happened because I listened to someone with a lot of theoretical knowledge, instead of my instincts having 10 years of training with 0 injuries.

theory is good and I like listening to people with a lot of experience in a certain area.

but I want to listen to people with practical experience not just theoretical.

this PT lifts at best 1/2 of what I do and he doesn't know what it is like to have that weight on his hands.

balance, flow, grip, etc , it's really different holding a 20kg dumbbell than a 50kg one.

my experience handling the weights, should carry way more importance than theoreticals with no practical experience.

I broke that rule and for a split second I thought my arm was gone.

lesson reinforced.

listen to practitioners, not to backoffice academics.

both in training and trading (I'd say trading MOST ESPECIALLY).
