Jinse Finance reported that Volcano Energy announced that it will invest US$1 billion to build a 241 megawatt (MW) bitcoin mine in the Metapán region of El Salvador. El Salvador plans to build a 241MW renewable energy power generation park, including 169MW of photovoltaic solar energy and 72MW of wind energy, and plans to build a bitcoin mine in the park. The initial investment was $250 million, resulting in over 1.3 exahash/second (EH/s) of computing power.
