According to Japan's "Yomiuri Shimbun", Shueisha announced on the 7th that it would stop selling its first digital photobook "Birth (生まれたて.)" created with generative AI. "[The sale of photobooks] is a poor consideration of the various issues surrounding generative AI," the company said. It is reported that the protagonist of this photobook is a virtual female model named Satsuki Ai (さつきあい), who was created by Shueisha's "Weekly Playboy" magazine using generative AI. On May 29th, Shueisha officially sold the electronic version of the photobook "Birth" online. After the magazine was released, there were voices on social media saying that Satsuki's love was too realistic, and questioned whether it involved infringement of photos of real models. In this regard, Shueisha responded yesterday: "For the commercialization of AI products, we have come to the conclusion that we should think more carefully (potential problems) when examining the deepening discussions in society."
