According to a report by the Financial Associated Press on June 17, the American Recording Academy announced the update of the Grammy Awards selection rules, and the number of nominations for the four main categories (Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Newcomer) will be reduced to 8. It will take effect at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled for early 2024. Additionally, the academy spoke about the use of artificial intelligence in music, reiterating that "only human creators are eligible to be submitted for consideration, nominated, or to win a Grammy." No work by a human author does not qualify for any category, the academy said Qualifications. Music that includes some AI material is still eligible, as long as the actual human authorship is "meaningful" and important.
