At the developer conference in May, Microsoft announced that Windows Copilot will be launched in June. Sure enough, on the last day of June, Microsoft's promise was fulfilled!

At the end of May, Microsoft announced to the world at the developer conference: Starting in June, as soon as you open Windows, your GPT assistant will pop up immediately, at your command.

Sure enough, Microsoft's speed did not disappoint. On the last day of the end of June, the developer preview update of Windows Copilot was launched in surprise!

In this regard, the editor also quickly tried a wave!

Windows Copilot Early Access

Unexpectedly, in just a few months, Microsoft really exploded the Windows and ChatGPT family barrels.

Just yesterday, Windows 11 underwent a wave of major updates, and Copilot, which is connected to GPT-4, has been "settled" in Windows across the board.

Key points: To use Copilot in this developer preview, the following conditions need to be met at the same time—

Install Windows Build 23493 or later in the developer channel, and install Microsoft Edge 115.0.1901.150 or later.

After updating, the Copilot icon will appear in the taskbar.

Just one click, and an interface similar to the web version of Bing Chat will appear on the right side of the screen, which is officially launched Copilot!

In addition, there is another way to start it through the new Copilot startup shortcut key combination - Win+C.

Once launched, Copilot will extend from the right side of the screen without overlapping desktop content, and will run unobstructed with open application windows.

Anytime, as long as we need, we can interact with Copilot at any time.

Now, with the little assistant Copilot, the interaction mode between users and Windows has been completely changed!

It can be said that in the future, every user will be able to use any function of Windows without barriers, even if you have never used Windows before.

For example, if you want to take a screenshot, in the past, you had to know the password-level combination of Shift+Win+S.

Now with Copilot, as long as you directly enter "screenshot" in Copilot, the system will automatically start the screenshot function, and then click it easily, and the screenshot will be completed.

In addition, for operations such as "turn on the Do Not Disturb Mode", Copilot will ask you again if you really want to turn on this mode, and will help you turn it on after confirming.

Not only that, but if Copilot doesn't understand whether you want to ask a question or perform a local operation, it may pop up an option box asking you to confirm the operation.

It can be said that Windows Copilot is far more "smart" than the previous smart assistants.

You just ask some questions that you usually ask Bing Chat or other smart assistants, and he will give you answers like an ordinary smart assistant.

Enter "how's the weather?" and it will report the weather directly to you.

Ask him to generate a picture of "heavy traffic", and it will do so immediately, and generate 4 candidate photos for you to choose.

In addition, Copilot can also cooperate with the browser to summarize the text content of the web page.

Just enter "summarize current tab", and it will help you generate an outline of the content of the current web page.

This efficiency artifact is too 6, and the visual inspection of the editor's workflow will greatly speed up again!

However, it is a pity that the current Windows Copilot is still an early preview version, so it cannot support all the functions displayed on Build.

If the input operation Copilot can't complete, it will treat it as a normal text chat content.

For example, when you enter "Open Explorer", you will find that Copilot cannot open it for us.

At this point, it can only generate steps for you on how to open the resource manager like Bing Chat, instead of actually helping you perform this operation locally.

If you have any suggestions for improvement and complaints during the use process, Microsoft has also given a channel to vent.

Just click the settings button in the upper right corner, and you can feed back your ideas to Microsoft for further optimization.

Of course, because the current Copilot is still a beta version, whether it is the response speed or the comprehensiveness of functions, it is still a little far from the omnipotent true super AI assistant in our minds.

But! It can be believed that under the overtime training of Microsoft, who is the incarnation of "AI volume king", it will not take long for the ultimate evolution of Copilot to make Windows set off another operating system revolution and reproduce Microsoft's original glory.

Finally, it's important to note that not all Insiders in the developer channel are currently available. Microsoft's plan is to monitor and evaluate feedback before rolling it out to everyone.

There are other surprises

Of course, this big update of Win11 also brought us other surprises.

Native support for various compressed files

Now, Win11 can natively support opening .rar .7z and other compressed file formats!

This function can be said to come out after a long time.

Previously, we had been struggling with decompression software for a long time. After reinstalling the system every time, decompression software such as WinRAR or 7-Zip must be installed.

Now, using a file manager, you can unzip the archive. The following file formats are supported -

### Brand new settings page

In addition, this update includes a brand new settings home page, which provides us with a dynamic and personalized experience.

In this home page, it provides an overview of the device, allows us to quickly access key settings, and helps us manage Microsoft accounts.

Interaction cards represent various device and account related settings, grouped by commonly used functions.

Each card is optimized to give us the most relevant information and control. There are up to seven cards in the current version, and more will be added in the future.

Recommended Settings: Adapted to specific usage patterns, this card provides timely and relevant setting options, designed to simplify settings management and save time. Cloud Storage: Provides an overview of cloud storage usage and alerts when capacity is approaching. Account Recovery: Help users add additional recovery information to ensure Microsoft account is more secure, even if the password is forgotten, it will not be locked. Personalization: One-click access to provide customization options, including updating background themes or changing color modes. Microsoft 365: Quickly view subscription status and benefits, and perform some key actions in settings without going to the web. Xbox: Similar to Microsoft 365 Card, can view subscription status, and manage subscriptions in Settings app. Bluetooth Devices: Quickly access and connect to the user's favorite Bluetooth devices.

Setting up the homepage is not just a navigation page, it will evolve and learn as the user uses it.

Based on our usage habits and preferences, it learns to provide us with the most relevant and useful information.

Alignment layout

This new Snap Layout feature allows us to align multiple application windows together.

Hover the mouse over the minimize or maximize button (or WIN+Z) on the application to launch the layout box, and then you can see the various application icons, and then get the best layout effect.
