According to news on July 12, the U.S. federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York charged SHAKEEB AHMED, a former security engineer of an international technology company, for allegedly carrying out a flash loan attack on a decentralized exchange on the Solana blockchain in July 2022 and stealing about $9 million in cryptocurrencies. SHAKEEB AHMED has been arrested in New York and charged with wire fraud and money laundering, each of which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

The DOJ did not explicitly mention the DEX, but its description matches last year's theft from the Solana-based DEX Crema Finance, according to CoinDesk. Crema Finance, the Solana ecological liquidity protocol, was hacked in July last year. Attackers exploited Crema’s smart contract vulnerabilities and stole more than $8.8 million in flash loans through Solend.
