According to PANews news on July 21, according to China News Network, Bank of China (Hong Kong) and its parent company, Bank of China, recently jointly launched the digital renminbi "cross-border shopping festival". Mainland customers participating in the event can spend in digital renminbi at designated merchants in Hong Kong that accept digital renminbi and enjoy a convenient shopping experience. Up to now, more than 200 stores have participated in the event, covering supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores, electrical appliances and many other large retail chains in Hong Kong, including U Shopping Select, cdf Beauty, Longfeng Group, VanGO Convenience Store and Baoda Food Supermarket, etc. Bank of China Hong Kong stated that in addition to facilitating mainland customers to use digital renminbi payments in Hong Kong, the event can also help participating retailers reduce cross-border payment costs.


According to reports, during the event period, Bank of China mobile banking customers in the mainland can scan the QR codes at Hong Kong cooperative merchants to receive red envelopes. Customers of branches in Jiangsu, Guangdong and Shenzhen can also receive red envelopes through the activity pages of the corresponding branches.
