According to news from PANews on August 5, Bloomberg quoted two people familiar with the matter as saying that Digital Currency Group (DCG) is facing an investigation by the New York State Attorney General because of its financial transactions with its subsidiary Genesis Global Capital. In recent months, the office of New York State Attorney General Letitia James has requested information from former Genesis executives, according to people familiar with the matter. Former Genesis chief risk officer Michael Patchen was recently questioned, one of the people said.
In addition, federal prosecutors and the SEC are investigating DCG's relationship with Genesis. A DCG spokesman said the company was assisting regulators and investigators upon request, and it was unclear whether the investigation would lead to a complaint.
