V God talks about AI: Don’t worry about being replaced, we will eventually adapt to the wave of new technologies

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, recently accepted an interview with Sriram Krishnan and Aarthi Ramamurthy's podcast, talking about the crypto community's initial views on former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), as well as his personal thoughts on artificial intelligence. Odaily Planet Daily compiled the key content as follows:

Many people in the industry had reservations about SBF from the beginning

Vitalik Buterin revealed in the program that although SBF enjoys a high reputation in the mainstream media as an industry leader, the encryption community has reservations about SBF and FTX from the very beginning.

Vitalik Buterin said, "I think a lot of people have this misunderstanding, thinking that everyone respects Sam very much, and in the end he took the entire ecosystem by surprise. I think it is true that no one expected the $8 billion (project) to collapse, but If you look at Ethereum influencers like Anthony Sassano, a lot of them have disrespected him and FTX from the start.”

Vitalik went on to explain that many in the crypto ecosystem are skeptical of SBF because he can't seem to articulate why cryptocurrencies are valuable.

Vitalik recalls, “He couldn’t articulate why crypto was good, he just clearly thought it was purely a business opportunity. It was like, ‘Oh, hey, crypto is something you can make money on.’” "

Contrasting SBF's views with the cypherpunk values and goals of decentralization that originally inspired Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other blockchain projects, Vitalik said the disgraced entrepreneur was simply "repeating other people's sentiments." , that 'disintermediation is a good thing, creating more open markets is a good thing' - these views have been said by influential people for many years."

Vitalik noted, "I don't think he's ever really made the community feel like he believes in the vision. That's probably the biggest reason why the mistrust exists."

AI can enhance human creativity and help individual creators make movies and other works of art

Vitalik also talked about the rapid development of artificial intelligence systems such as ChatGPT, and expressed optimism about its potential, believing that artificial intelligence can enhance human creativity, rather than completely replace human work and talents.

Vitalik said, "I think one of the positive things about this is that it's a great example of that AI isn't going to kill 30% of jobs**, that would be catastrophic and scary. — instead of eliminating 30% of your workload, it’s actually a great time saver.”

He acknowledged that more jobs will disappear as AI approaches the full capabilities of humans, but for now, AI is something to be embraced.

According to Vitalik, “In Phase 1, the final sprint to human-level AI, things are interesting — it empowers people, not replaces them, at least so far. "

He also mentioned that powerful artificial intelligence tools such as image generators can help individual creators produce movies and other works of art without the need for expensive Hollywood-style production.

"What we don't want to see is artists being replaced. What I want to see is a writer who can not only write a novel, but also make a movie himself," Vitalik said. "I want to see the cost of making a movie go from $100,000 to That drops dramatically, and a person basically just needs to use their creativity and spend a few months using an AI platform."

In his view, disrupting Hollywood would be a good thing.

“We get away from all these horrible hybrid remakes like Marvel vs. Kong and kind of like Star Trek vs. Star Wars,” he said, “and move to real stories that reflect different people’s values.”

"I'm excited about this enhancement to existing personal creativity," Vitalik said.

In fact, Vitalik positions AI as one of the most important developments in history. "This transition from human to superhuman AI, I think this level of transition has basically only happened three or four times in the history of the planet."

But Vitalik also acknowledged that more research is needed and some limited regulation of advanced AI may be required to address possible risks. He stressed that any regulations should be targeted rather than imposing blanket bans that would hinder innovation.

“I see these very compelling arguments from AI risk people. But we have a long history, spanning hundreds of years, of people predicting the next wave of technology with all sorts of pretty dire consequences. Yet , we have adapted time and time again over the centuries."
