What do you think of the Web5 proposed by the former CEO of Twitter?

@jack's new project @TBD54566975 directly throws out the concept of web5, so where did web4 go? web1 is read only, web2 is read+write, web3 is read+write+own. In fact, this paradigm shift is only at the ideological level and is highly constrained by the current regulatory policies. Therefore, speculation can’t escape the process of blowing bubbles. If you forget the concept and only think about the steps required to build a decentralized society, Maybe you will understand web5.

The span from web1 to web2 is easy for everyone to understand. Now that we are used to web2, no one mentions web1. It is because web2 has almost wiped out web1, and each of our Internet natives is a witness and participant in this process. creators and builders.

However, the span from web2 to web3 actually has big problems: 1) At present, the web3 kingdom is only established by a small number of people, and the mainstream web2 society has not fully accepted it; 2) The internal circulation system of web3 is too financially speculative, and the sickle and leek are polarized The serious differentiation has caused many aborigines of web3 to linger on web2; 3) In a short period of time, it is difficult for web3 to eliminate web2, and there will be a state of symbiosis and integration for a long time, which may be web4.

web3 wants to realize the great vision of data owned by users, and there are many obstacles:

  1. Supervise the maintenance of the inviolability of the monetary system, which conflicts with the foundation of the token economic model;

  2. The vested interests of the web2 platform are conservative and do not want to change. The platform that has a large amount of capital, talents and resources has not become a reformer, but has become an obstruction force for change. It is conceivable that it is difficult for web3 to stand out or even replace web2.

So the symbiotic integration of web3 and web2 will be a big attraction, but now the web3 world and web2 world are completely separated, web3 builds public chain, decentralized storage, DeFi, NFT and other data return to everyone's infrastructure, But found that web2 is not used at all, and the supervision does not allow the two to have an affair. So everyone played their own way. web3 cannot shake web2 at all, and it is impossible to talk about replacing it.

The reason why the TBD project skips web4 and talks about web5 is that it wants to skip the fusion state and directly highlight an ambitious utopia. This country uses the DID decentralized identity system, decentralized storage system, decentralized data declaration and verification model as the infrastructure to achieve the vision of trusted individuals, trusted finance, and a trusted society. I don't know if it can be realized, but at least it is no longer a separate posture of standing on its own mountain, and it is worth looking forward to.
