According to a Cryptoslate report on August 16, venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) has open sourced the AI Town code on Github, allowing developers to create virtual worlds driven by artificial intelligence. It is reported that AI Town relies on a powerful technology stack, including Convex for back-end serverless framework, Pinecone for vector storage, Clerk for authentication, OpenAI for natural language text generation and Fly for deployment . Each AI character in town receives a starting cue that shapes its character and serves as the basis for its interactions and behavior. When AI characters interact with each other, they retain a memory of the conversation, thus ensuring the continuity of the interaction. This ability to remember past communications brings a unique narrative to each AI character, further enhancing the realism and complexity of the virtual environment.
