IOTA to Play Crucial Role in New Traffic Management _, Securing Data Emitted by Radio Module on 13km Highway in Friedrichshafen
The IOTA blockchain network has been one of the key solution providers across different industrial applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT), energy consumption, and much more. A recently released patent explores how traffic management s can effectively function using distributed ledger technology (DLT) and how IOTA can play a key role in this.
The patent basically talks about a traffic management device, , and other methods of managing traffic, especially for self-driving vehicles. Also, the traffic management would include sensor modules, which are basically ultra-wideband sensors that can easily sense the information and parameters of all the moving objects within their field of view.
These ultra-wideband sensors would then emit electromagnetic wave packets of large bandwidth thereby enabling accurate and safe traffic management even at the high speed and within confined spaces. Furthermore, the patent explains that these sensor modules would easily integrate into roadway boundaries. This includes guard rails or guide posts thereby ensuring easy installations and positioning close to the road.
Additionally, the sensors will feature radio modules to emit data to receivers based on the sensed information. Now comes the interesting part wherein the patent talks about encrypting the emitted data using blockchain and digital ledger technology. This would ensure higher data security against any kind of manipulation.
The radio module within the device could communicate with other sensor modules. This would ensure cost-effective and energy-efficient operations. Also, the device would include additional features such as fog recognition sensors, slippery road surface sensors, and energy harvesting units.
IOTA’s Involvement Within the Traffic Management
Now, the interesting thing is that the patent mentions IOTA as the potential encryption technology for securing the data emitted by the radio module. As the patent suggests using the blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT), it specifically mentions IOTA’s Tangle in order to encrypt the data emitted by the radio module.
The IOTA Tangle is a decentralized network of nodes that work together in order to validate transactions. Unlike blockchain technology, IOTA does not utilize a sequence of blocks for data storage and transmission. Instead, it employs a directed acyclic graph (DAG) known as the Tangle.
The patent notes that by encrypting data using IOTA’s Tangle technology, the will ensure high security as well as the integrity of the emitted data. This helps in preventing any kind of manipulation or unauthorized access.
Additionally, using IOTA’s encryption would also improve the reliability and attractiveness of the data for third parties. As a result, the patent stresses using IOTA’s encryption as the proposed solution for maintaining data security as well as integrity in the traffic management .
