Golden Finance reported that the UK Financial Conduct Authority found no evidence of politically motivated account closures. Britain's financial regulator is expected to say in a review of the issue published later this week that it found no evidence that people were being deducted because of their political views.
According to the Financial Times, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will publish findings showing that there are no cases where political views were the main reason for the closure of personal accounts. The review is based on information requested by the Financial Conduct Authority from 34 banks and payments providers. This is separate from an ongoing investigation into financial services firms' treatment of politically exposed persons (PEPs), the findings of which the FCA said it would report by the end of June next year.
