According to a report by Webmaster Home on October 7, Walmart is using artificial intelligence tools to improve the efficiency and productivity of its stores, but the company claims that this has not resulted in layoffs. Walmart said artificial intelligence software is used for tasks such as determining the most efficient way to load trucks, organizing shelves based on customer purchasing patterns and answering customer questions. The technology has allowed employees to focus more on customer service and has not resulted in any layoffs. The company plans to continue hiring the same number or more as it rolls out more AI technology in the future. As previously reported, Walmart announced that it will provide artificial intelligence-generated applications to approximately 50,000 non-store employees.
