According to Golden Finance, John Deaton, a lawyer and cryptocurrency advocate for XRP supporters, has slammed the Lightning Network, saying it is inferior to the "Spend TheBits" protocol on XRP Ledger (XRPL). On Saturday, John Deaton announced his preferences via Twitter, while announcing his participation in "Spend the Bits" as an angel investor and serving as chief legal officer. This isn't the first time Deaton has publicly endorsed "Spend TheBits" as an alternative to the widely recognized Lightning Network on the Bitcoin blockchain. Earlier this month, lawyers supporting Ripple endorsed the agreement, describing it as "a better, faster and more secure way to spend bitcoin than using the Lightning Network."
