My experience so far writing weekly trading strategy articles:
When I first started writing these articles I set the expectations of a weekly article, where I tested a new trading strategy, signal or concept. Initially it was easy. There were plenty interesting concepts and ideas, that worked decently, and got translated quite well to the crypto space. As time went by, it became harder and harder to find decent stuff.
And that makes sense, there isn't that many super unique profitable ideas available online. Otherwise they wouldn't be available for someone like me to find. So as time went by, it became harder and harder to keep up with the schedule.
I also don't want to become a guy that tests trading indicators and optimized technical strategies. That is not the point of these articles. I want to find effects that are real, and model for those effects. Sure I could test a technical "bar pattern" or generate optimized strategies using a machine learning brute force algo, every day of the week, and still have plenty to go. But does that really add value to the user? Maybe , maybe not.
Because it isn't about just finding a strategy, testing and writing it. No. I need to ensure some basic level of quality of the strategy. Many times, I write an entire article, only to find out something that I am not happy about, and there it goes, a day of work down the drain. This process of ideation to finished product is take me around 8h-10h to complete right now. And it's not certain that they get published like I said.
Right now when I fail my schedule by a day or 2, it becomes this obsession that I don't leave the house until it's done. I just can't feel good, and I feel stressed about it. Maybe the scheduling is wrong and I should aim for a few articles a month instead of a forced 1 a week. Do those that I really feel proud about.
I love research and this pushes me to not procrastinate on projects because I have to deliver. Also I am building this library of ideas, which people seem to find valuable, and that will be used in the future. With each iteration I am getting better at research and identifying opportunity. For someone like me with just an high school diploma, research is not something intuitive. I had to do a lot of work to get here.
In any case, I am learning how to manage all these things as I go, and it's not as straightforward as it initially seemed.
