Republican candidate Trump expressed his views within hours after the Fed's 50 basis point rate cut on September 19, calling it a 'political move' and stating that a 25 basis point rate cut would be appropriate. He had previously suggested that an independent Central Bank should be subject to some degree of control by the executive branch.
