Meme Coin History



The first meme coin was Dogecoin (DOGE), created in December 2013 as a joke—playing off a popular Internet meme at the time. Software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer originally intended for Dogecoin to parody the cryptocurrency markets by poking fun at the rapid proliferation of digital tokens.
