A hen can lay 200 eggs a year, and its ability to do so is because humans have identified a bug in its behavior. It wants to hatch chicks, but it needs at least 6 eggs to do so. Humans eat 5 of the eggs it lays, taking away three or four, leaving just one or two, depriving it of hope but not pushing it into despair, so it continues to lay eggs.
